Fans of the reality show Moja Love Isencane Lengane, which follows the lives of a couple who married at the age of 16, are furious. The show, now in its sixth season, centers on the marriage between Siyacela and Thando Dlamuka, who wed six years ago…

The announcement, made by Thando herself during an appearance on the podcast Meaningful Conversation with Zandy Mfeka, ends a relationship that has amazed and, at times, shocked viewers for years.

Thando revealed that the decision to split was motivated by years of alleged physical and emotional abuse at the hands of Siyacela.

“Initially he was good, he brought me lunch to school, but he was always controlling. He isolated me from my friends and I wasn’t allowed to talk to the boys at school. “In the end, I wasn’t allowed to go to school anymore, so I didn’t finish high school,” she explained.

The marriage, which began when Thando and Siyacela were just teenagers – Thando 15 and Siyacela 16 – was met with disapproval from Thando’s mother from the start. Thando admitted to ignoring his mother’s concerns and social workers who tried to intervene.

“I was young and naive, I was very much in love and I knew nothing about marriage. My mother was against this marriage, but I went along with it. I didn’t know how to do better. But today I realize that I made a big mistake. I shouldn’t have married him, in fact, I would have been far behind in life if he hadn’t been a part of my life,” she said.

The relationship deteriorated significantly over time, with Thando describing a complete lack of intimacy and connection.

“The spark is gone, we are no longer intimate and we don’t spend time together anymore. We are more like brother and sister. He still protects me, but we both know that there is nothing left. We are emotionally divorced. “It’s only a matter of time before they officially come out and call it quits,” he said.
